🚗 Vehicle Security Advice – Keyless Entry TheftWe are seeing an increase in vehicles being stolen without keys, particularly those fitted with keyless entry and start systems. Offenders are using devices to relay the signal from your key fob inside your home, allowing them to unlock and start your car as if they had the key. ⚠️ How it happens: Thieves stand near your house (often by the front door or window) with a relay device. This picks up the signal from your key fob inside and transmits it to another device near your vehicle, tricking the car into unlocking and starting.
âś… How to protect your vehicle:1. Use a signal-blocking (Faraday) pouch 2. Keep keys away from doors and windows 3. Enable additional security features 4. Lock and secure your vehicle properly 5. Consider CCTV and exterior lighting 6. Update vehicle software (if applicable)
📢 Key message:Keyless theft is quick, silent, and often happens overnight. Taking simple steps like using a Faraday pouch and keeping keys secure can significantly reduce your risk. If you notice suspicious behaviour around vehicles or properties, report it to police. | ||
